Zoo Day

Running to see the lion roaring
We started the day bright and early with Adam's hockey.  We normally go to church, but there are a few Sundays that hockey is during our normal service, so we will miss a few Sundays.  Adam played goalie quite a bit today... here he is blocking a goal (check out the puck in the air by his helmet) and then missing a block (the puck is in the net).  He has fun playing goalie, but he loves to skate and score goals, too!  When we got home, we spent an our doing mass-cleaning so that every room in the house (including the garage) is looking back in shape!   After lunch we decided to go to the zoo since it was so nice out... mid 50s and sunny!  I love these days at the zoo because the animals are usually moving around, compared to a hot summer day where they are sitting in one spot sleeping or resting.  As predicted, the animals were busy!  We heard the lion roar and saw it walk around on the rock platforms, the tiger was rolling around on its back,  the rhino was walking back and fourth, the sea lions were jumping out of the water (literally) and the otters were playing in and out of the water!  We also enjoyed going into the rainforest exhibit, the gorilla exhibit and the giraffe exhibit.  We all love to go to the zoo!  I usually do not go during the winter months, but there are enough indoor exhibits that I will be taking the kids throughout the winter as field trips for school... they have a lot of educational talks and demonstrations that we will be able to take advantage of!  We grilled burgers for dinner and then baked m&m cookies for dessert.  Nummm!
