Young Eagles

Holy moly... we sent 3 of our 4 beloved children up into 3 separate planes... with trusted pilots whom we had never met prior to them stepping onto the plane!  The kids L-O-V-E-D it! It was offered through the Young Eagles program... this was 30 minutes of flight time, about an hour of total time with the safety course and the orientation to their plane... all for free, donated by the pilots themselves!  Adam was so excited that he hardly spoke to his pilot... Anna was so consumed that she forgot to take pictures... and Ashley was up for adventure and it showed by her both chatting with the pilot and taking photos... she never misses a beat!  Ashley even flew the plane... a Cessna 150... herself for over half the flight!  Needless to say... she announced that she wants to be a pilot when she grows up.  Add this he to her list of desired vocations!  Gotta love her spirit!  Adam's plane was a Cherokee... and his lingo for the rest of the day related entirely to airplanes, which is not uncommon, as he really does like planes and plays with them regularly, but today was excessive.  When we left Target at 6:05 he asked when we would be home, I told him 6:20, to which he replied, "Oh, so a 15 minute flight?"  Not to mention, the whole way to Target and back, he had to have his window down so his match-box plane with a movable propeller could fly through the sky as he held on tightly holding it out the window.   Anna felt pretty cool to get a classic ride... a Piper J-5 Cub built in 1941!  She said she would have flown it herself except the seat belt was so confining that she felt like she couldn't move, plus the pilot was behind her and she would have been more willing with him beside her.  No big deal... she had a blast... they all did... and so did Wes and I just watching them and hearing all about it!
